Turn Your Drawing into a Useful Hat Brief
A useful hat inquiry connects a reference or drawing with the material, measurements, logo and quantity you want to discuss. Use the checklist below to explain the project clearly, even when some design decisions are still open.

Show the starting point and the changes you want
Send the exact catalogue link, your own drawing or the reference images that explain the design. Label each view and add a short change list. If you like the crown but want a different brim or closure, say which details should remain and which need development.
A drawing does not need to hide every unanswered question. Mark important dimensions, indicate the intended wearer and use, and distinguish a fixed requirement from an option for review. Front, side, back and underside views can each reveal a different part of the hat.

Specify materials by component and construction
Name the material you require and identify where it belongs. Fibre composition, fabric construction and surface appearance answer different questions. For example, polyester describes a fibre, twill describes a fabric structure, and a washed appearance describes a finish to review.
Add the panel layout, crown support, brim shape, lining, band and rear construction where relevant. When you have a physical material reference, explain which characteristics should be matched, such as colour, texture or thickness, and which require further discussion.
If a size option differs from a general product description, do not combine the values or choose the wider range. Identify the exact product and selected version, ask Relia Hats to confirm which size and measurement method apply, and carry that confirmation into the sample brief and final approved specification.
| Brief item | Useful information |
|---|---|
| Main fabric and other components | Required composition, construction, colour and location |
| Hat shape | Crown depth/profile, panel arrangement and brim dimensions |
| Fit and closure | Finished measurements, intended wearer and rear mechanism |
| Finish or treatment | Requested appearance and any product-specific evidence requirements |
Make the logo instructions measurable
Include your artwork file and identify the version to use. State the proposed width and height, colours, decoration direction and location on the hat. Add a marked view showing distances from a seam, the brim join or another agreed reference point.
Share the artwork in the format you currently have and identify its file name and revision. Before sample work proceeds, ask which production-ready format is accepted for the selected decoration method and confirm the exact version to use. Keep the file, proposed dimensions and marked placement together; do not assume that sending a preview image settles production artwork requirements.
If you are comparing embroidery, print and a patch, explain the appearance you want to achieve. The exact material and artwork area need to be reviewed before confirming the method. For a patch, include its shape, edge treatment, backing and preferred attachment as part of the request, rather than treating it as just another image.
Separate quantities by style, colour and size
A total quantity becomes more useful when the split is clear. Use one row for each requested configuration, including the logo version if it changes. Keep similar colourways distinct: a dark crown with light mesh is a different request from a light crown with dark mesh.
The example below shows the structure of a brief, not an order minimum or an availability statement. Replace the illustrative entries with your actual requirements, and include the country and city of destination. Identify any target date and whether it means sample review, dispatch or arrival.
| Illustrative configuration | Size request | Quantity entry |
|---|---|---|
| Style A · dark crown/light mesh · logo v1 | Measured adult fit to confirm | Enter the required quantity |
| Style A · light crown/dark mesh · logo v1 | Measured adult fit to confirm | Enter the required quantity |
| Style B · chosen solid colour · logo v2 | Separate size specification | Enter the required quantity |
Define the sample scope and the approval record
Ask what the proposed sample will represent: the complete material and colour combination, a particular logo treatment, the requested fit, or another agreed development point. Confirm included items, charges, revision arrangements and timing in the project quotation.
Keep a reference name for the sample and a revision date for the brief. Record accepted details, requested changes and remaining questions separately. Before an order is confirmed, connect the accepted sample to the material, measurements, artwork and quantity matrix it represents.
Ready to discuss your hat project?
Send the reference or drawing, the material and construction requirements, the logo version and placement, the quantity split and destination. Add the intended wearer, use and any evidence or packing requirements that matter to your project.
Relia Hats can discuss hats developed from your requirements or drawings, with customer-specified materials and your own logo. Submit a project inquiry, or send reference files to [email protected]. For a worked example of how these details fit together, read the RFQ guide.
